What is the Shift Direct Hire program and who is eligible?
Shift's Direct Hire program provides exclusive opportunities for veterans to be connected to some of the country's fastest-growing companies. Veterans that have already transitioned from the US Military or will be leaving service in the next 5 months are eligible to apply to be highlighted to Shift hiring partners.
What is the process to participate in the Shift Direct Hire program?
Direct Hire candidates start the application process by applying on Shift.org and completing their Direct Hire application. Upon completion of the application, Shift will review profile details and contact all candidates that will be highlighted to hiring partners. Member profiles are shared for an average of 4 weeks at a time. While this occurs, the candidates resume, photo, and other pertinent information will be screened and verified by the Shift Team and feedback will be given to the candidate for any areas of improvement within 1-3 business days of submission. Outside of this feedback, the Shift team will not typically reach out to applicants; however, we will alert all candidates when they are going live to our hiring partners so they can prepare for inbound interview requests. During this period, the candidate will have access to Shift's resource hub, as well as the ability to reach out to speak to a member of Shift's Support Team to walk them through any questions they may have.
What is a Shift SkillBridge Internship and who is eligible?
Shift facilitates the DoD SkillBridge program with partner companies around the US. Many Shift partners are open to hosting SkillBridge interns for the duration of their 3-6 month internship and frequently offer full-time opportunities to successful interns. Servicemembers transitioning from active duty with at least 5-months left in service are eligible to apply for a Shift SkillBridge Internship.
What is the pre-approval for the Shift SkillBridge Internship?
In order to complete the Shift SkillBridge Internship part of the application, servicemembers must receive pre-approval from their first Officer-In-Charge (W2-W5 or O3 and above).
Signing the pre-approval form indicates the first O4 > commanding officer with Article 15/Captain's Mast authority will more likely than not, approve a servicemembers official SkillBridge paperwork if they are accepted into an internship. The pre-approval form is non-binding and does not guarantee a SkillBridge opportunity.
